Why More Women Are Ditching Beach Vacations for Soulful Retreats

After having guided more than 1,000 sessions online and offline in the past years, I realized this summer I truly needed a break myself. So, I did something different – I joined retreats in Italy and Portugal, including a stay at the Mandali Retreat Center in Italy. And for the first time in a long time, I came back feeling genuinely recharged.

As a mother, I often don’t get to fully relax on family vacations. Everything becomes a compromise. And even more often, I find myself working at some of the most beautiful hotels – like ClubMed, Robinson or Naturhotel – while the rest of my family enjoys a vacation. Talking to many other women, I realized I’m not alone. Many mothers feel the same: family holidays don’t always equal rest. So, taking part in a retreat just for me was a powerful reminder: sometimes, the best gift we can give ourselves is space.

Instead of checking out with cocktails and crowded beach clubs, more and more women are choosing to check in with themselves. Welcome to the era of mindful travel – and trust me, it’s not a trend, it’s a transformation.

🌿 What Is Mindful Travel?

Mindful travel goes beyond sightseeing and sunbathing. It’s about choosing destinations and experiences that align with your values, feed your soul, and invite you to pause, reconnect, and grow. Think: less scrolling, more stillness. Less “all-inclusive,” more all-connected.

From silent walks and breathwork ceremonies to mastermind circles and nourishing plant-based meals, mindful travel combines adventure with intention – and the result is powerful.

💫 Why Women Are Leading This Movement

Many of us are juggling careers, creativity, caregiving, and constant decision-making. Traditional holidays often leave us feeling… still tired. A transformational retreat, on the other hand, meets a deeper need: to reset not just the body, but the being.

Women are choosing:

  • Presence over pressure
  • Co-regulation over isolation
  • Inner clarity over outer distractions

They want to come back from a trip not just with tan lines – but with realigned values, new sisterhoods, and tools for everyday life.

✨ What Happens on a Mindful Retreat?

Every retreat is unique, but the best ones create a safe space where structure meets softness. Here’s a glimpse of what a Tiger & Turtle retreat might include:

  • Daily breathwork journeys to reset your nervous system
  • Journaling and vision mapping to get clarity on what’s next
  • Ceramics, movement or art workshops to ignite play
  • Digital detox time to slow down and remember what matters
  • Community and conversation with women who get it

🧘‍♀️ Why Breathwork Is the Ultimate Travel Companion

Whether you’re flying to a city, forest or island – your breath goes with you. It’s the anchor you can access anytime, anywhere. Breathwork during a retreat helps you:

  • Arrive in the moment (not just at the destination)
  • Release old emotions and stress from your body
  • Expand your sense of joy, gratitude, and inner freedom

“It was the first time I felt truly at home in myself – and I didn’t have to do it alone.” – Participant, Paris 2025
